When to use a pie chart
Pie charts show composition — how a whole splits into parts: market share, budget allocation, traffic sources, survey answers. Percentages in your text are handled natively (Search 54%), and the legend shows each slice's computed share.
Pie vs donut
Same data, different feel: donuts look lighter and more modern in decks; full pies read more traditionally. Both render crisply at 2× resolution here. For more than ~7 slices, consider merging the smallest into "Other" (edit the data table) or switching to a bar chart.
Values don't need to sum to 100
